Jacqui Kenny was diagnosed with agoraphobia – an anxiety disorder stemmed from having specific fears on traveling in a public transportation, large maddening crowds, public and open spaces. Due to her condition, she hardly leaves her house.
Faced with the severe stress and anxiety of having to deal with a failed company she co-founded, it was a tough time for her and she wanted to get away from it all. But leaving her house and facing her fears was not an option for her. She did, however, go into mental vacations by discovering Google Street View online.
“I can’t quite remember why I started looking through Google Street View but I happened to stumble across a few things I liked and decided to delve a little deeper. I really loved the possibilities that come with selecting and curating from billions of images that have been captured and frozen in time. The Google camera gives the images a really interesting point of view.” The struggling 43-year old artist told Metro.uk.
With this, Jacqui was able to remotely photograph the most obscure locations, as she went from street to street, looking for interesting details that could make a good photograph. Currently, she has over twenty-six thousand photos and she had even set up her own Instagram account under the name Agoraphobic Traveller.
Amazing, isn’t it?
