He briefly recalled the moment of his life where he reached his lowest point.

“We used to sleep on one such pavement. If it would rain, we would try to find another shelter in any nearby shop until the cops came and chased us out of there.”

His life turned around when a couple from Suyam Charitable Trust approached them initially for a project- a documentary. Although distrusting the couple at first, they saw something in Jayavel that convinced them to send him to school.

He hated studying at first, but soon, what came to his a profound realization hit him of how education can help him change his life drastically…for the better.

That’s when he started to persevere, and get excellent marks in his class. Soon, his hard work paid off as various donations came in to support him in his education. This would pave the way for him to study at a prestigious university like Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

A kindhearted and affluent donor gave a total of $24,800, enough for him to be able to secure a UK visa and study abroad.

Jayavel’s story of success inspired street kids to join the program he was in and to study hard to reach their dreams, too!
