Cancer Survivor Got Standing Ovation In America’s Got Talent While His Bullies Received Simon’s Golden Buzzer

11 Year Old Cancer Survivor Received Simon’s Golden Buzzer As Message To Bullies

America’s Got Talent, 2019, received a lot of auditions from funny to weird, but the center of it all is Simon Cowell’s slam of golden buzzer, introduced in Season 9 of America’s Got Talent, to send out the one that auditioned out of the room for another audition takers to come in, rejecting the current’s audition.

Now in this audition involving Tyler Butler-Figueroa, from North Carolina, a cancer survivor having diagnosed with leukemia at age of 4, Simon did a very strange thing of sending out of the room the bullies that bullied Tyler all his life out of the room.

Tyler lost a lot of his hair chemotherapy as the only way to treat leukemia. “People used to make fun of me and laugh at me because I was different,” he says. “They would spread rumors to say that my cancer was contagious and they all wanted to stay away from me.” Tyler was already accustomed to being ostracized and bullied by his peers on a regular basis.

Tyler’s outlook and life took a great shift when he discovered that he has talent playing the violin, where it was said music became Tyler’s comfort and survivor tool over amidst his fight against cancer and bullying he unfortunately have to face from his peers, being dubbed as “kid with cancer” and transformed into “the kid who plays the violin”.

At age of 11, Tyler auditioned with the America’s Got Talent, delivering what many viewers called as one of the “most inspiring auditions in the show’s history.” Tyler performed with the violin, Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger,” earned a standing ovation and revealed he has been in remission nearly for four years.

No one was more touched with Tyler’s fight against cancer and won it, than Simon Cowell. “We hear too many stories about people being bullied,” Simon said, according to People. “But I can tell you one thing, most people are bullied because they are better than the people who bully them. I think you have such an amazing talent, such a personality, and I would like to say something on your behalf to the bullies.”

And with that, Simon stood up and slammed the coveted Golden Buzzer, as a loud and clear, worldwide message to Tyler’s bullies.
