We know that auto-tune can do wonders. It makes even the most off-key singers sound amazing by editing their voice. Also, the program can make a person’s voice sound unique in a way that is better than in real life.
When Aida Nikolaychuk auditioned for Ukraine’s X-factor, the judges could not believe that she sang in her actual singing voice. In fact, it was done so beautifully that the judges thought that she was lip-syncing! They thought that there were digital effects that made her voice sound so breathtakingly beautiful.
“Are you kidding me? Is this some joke?” Sergey Vasilyevich ‘Seryoga’ Parkhomenko, one of the judges asked in utter unbelief.
“Is this a recording?” judge Ihor Kondratiuk chimed in.
Convinced that Aida wasn’t really singing live, they asked her to stop in the middle of her performance.
“Could you sing any song a cappella?” Ihor asked, but Seryoga wanted her to do the same song.
Aida was confused at first, but she obliged.
And when her voice came out a capella, without any music whatsoever- everyone was stunned. Her voice sounded exactly like when it had musical accompaniment!
The truth was, her voice had a unique quality in it, so flawless that it sounded like it was digitally enhanced.
Aida eventually came to win that season and became a popular singer in Ukraine.
