Mercedes Casanellas gave birth to a healthy baby boy on May 2015 on her native El Salvador. Although unknown to her and her husband Richard Cushworth, they’ve been given the wrong baby to take home.
Instinct told her that she was given a different baby to bring home. It was after she saw that the baby’s features is different from the one that was first handed to her by the doctors after she gave birth via Cesarean.

‘He was just passed by me and I gave him a kiss and then he was taken to the nursery and that was the last time I saw him,’ she said
Eventually following her gut, Mercedes finally decided to take the DNA test to prove that the baby she was taking care of for the past four months was in fact, not hers.

And she was, to be proven- right.
Both babies has been in fact, accidentally swapped on the hospital.

Upon realizing this, the couple then traveled then to the US to be reunited with their real son, Moses. Although they were both euphoric to have finally found their baby, they also felt a tinge of sadness for returning to his biological parents baby they cared for, Jacob.
