To capture such beauty of lightning, Dustin uses a $110,000 Phantom Flex4K high-speed camera at 1000 frames per second.

A 4K sensor that provides sharp, detailed images with extremely low noise and high dynamic range. For Dustin, chasing storm is stressful yet everything goes well.

Mostly, the captured lightnings are from the photographer’s hometown Arizona which gives him an amazing experience, though on some occasions he found himself uncomfortable either mentally or physically.

Dustin said in a statement, “I learned that lightning varies greatly in speed. There are some incredible looking bolts that I captured that didn’t make the cut because even at 1000 fps they only lasted for one frame during playback.”

After spending 30 days chasing the storms he finally puts it all together in one breathtaking video called “Transient.”
