This Hot Dog Vendor Receives $87,000 From Enraged Public In This Viral Video

Recently, a post of Martin Flores, a dad and an alumnus of UC Berkeley has been making the rounds online due to the fact that it has enraged citizens. The video contained a hot dog vendor whose profit of what he’s selling was taken by UC Berkeley police officer.

This garnered enraged reactions from netizens which led them to band together and raise money for the hot dog vendor whose money was taken by the officer.

Rigoberto Matias, the vendor, was apprehended by the officer due to the fact that he did not have a permit to sell. According to the cop, he was technically operating a business without a license.

Matias is a construction worker who sells hot dogs in his spare time to support his family.

According to Flores, the cop was obviously power-tripping the vendor, and it was even shown how he blatantly removed the poor man’s money…about $60, from his wallet. That was Matias’ profit from a day of selling hot-dogs!

“I totally recognize that people have to have permits. But this wasn’t about that. This was about identifying one vendor. If you want law and order, be law and order across the board,” Flores said.

According to him, although technically the guy may have broken the law…The officer should have at least fined him a ticket instead of unjustly taking money from his wallet.

What displeased him the most was that the actions of the cop were tolerated by fellow cops and even school officials. This action angered a lot of people, as they have started a GoFundMe campaign for the hot-dog vendor.
